FAQ

Questions, answered plainly

Everything people ask before their first site — and the honest answers. Still wondering something? Ask your AI assistant; it can read this page too.

What is Drivethrough?

Drivethrough is a website service that works through your AI assistant. Instead of learning a website builder, you tell the assistant you already use — Claude, ChatGPT, or another — what you want online, and the site is live in minutes. Sites start private and go public only when you say so.

Can I make a website without knowing how to code?

Yes — that's the whole point. You never see code, settings, or software. You describe what you want in plain words, your AI assistant builds it, and Drivethrough puts it online. Changing the site later is just asking again.

Can I have a website only I can see?

Yes. Every Drivethrough site starts private — invisible to everyone but you. There's no public listing and no way for strangers to stumble onto it. Share it with a link when you're ready, to exactly the people you choose, or keep it to yourself forever.

How do I share a private site?

Ask for a share link and send it to whoever you like — it works like sharing a Google Doc. Your guest opens the link, sees a friendly welcome with your name on it, and taps once to come in. You can turn any link off at any time.

Do the people I share with need accounts?

No, never. Guests open your link and they're in — no sign-up, no password, no app to install. That's a founding rule of Drivethrough: the people you share with are guests, not users.

Which AI assistants work with Drivethrough?

Any assistant that can connect to outside tools, which in 2026 includes Claude, ChatGPT, and most major assistants. Drivethrough doesn't ship its own chatbot — it plugs into the one you already use, so there's nothing new to learn.

How do I connect my AI assistant?

Once, in about a minute. Sign in to Drivethrough, copy the connection link, and paste it into your assistant's settings — in Claude, that's under Settings and then Connectors. Approve the connection when asked, and from then on you just talk.

How much does Drivethrough cost?

Free to start: three private sites and one public site, no credit card. The Personal plan is $36 a year and adds unlimited private sites, permanent share links, and a public site on your own web address — the address itself is included. Pro, at $12 a month, is for sites that run custom code.

Can I use my own web address?

Yes. On the Personal plan your own address — like yourbusiness.com — is bundled into the $36 yearly price. You approve it once during checkout and your site moves to its own name. No separate registrar accounts or renewal surprises.

What happens to my sites if I stop paying?

Nothing bad. Sites never pause, degrade, or disappear when a plan ends — paid plans only lift limits, they never hold your work hostage. What's already online stays online.

Is Drivethrough safe?

Every site is checked automatically before it goes live, and scam or phishing pages are suspended on the spot — so a Drivethrough address is one people can trust. Sign-in is through your Google account; there are no passwords to leak.

I'm a developer — is there more under the hood?

Yes: a command-line tool (npx drivethrough), a hosted MCP server, and JSON output on every command. The developers page has the details.

That's really all there is to it.
