What is a private website?

A private website is one only you — and the people you invite — can see. On Drivethrough, every site starts private automatically. There's no public listing, no search engines, no strangers. You open it up person by person, with a link, and you can close the door again any time.

What do people put on a private site?

Anything that's for some people, not all people. Ask your AI assistant for it, and it exists a minute later:

• A trip site for the family — itinerary, packing list, and an RSVP for who's in.
• The recipe book your grandmother kept, finally in one place, for cousins only.
• A photo page for the new baby that only the grandparents can open.
• A little tool that splits the ski-house bills between six friends.
• A quiet page for a club, a class, a team — schedules, notes, sign-ups.

How does sharing a private site work?

Sharing works like a Google Doc link. Ask for a share link, send it to whoever you choose, and when they open it they see a friendly welcome — “Tim shared Trip to Japan with you” — and tap once to come in. They never create an account or a password. You can turn any link off whenever you like.

Want to invite exactly one person? An invite emails them a personal key instead of a pass-around link. Either way, you always know the door is yours.

Is it really private?

Yes. A private Drivethrough site is invisible to anyone without your link — visitors without one see nothing there at all. Privacy is a setting you control, not a wall you build: flip a site public later, or private again, just by asking your assistant.

What does a private site cost?

Three private sites are free, with share links that last 30 days. The Personal plan — $49.99 a year — makes private sites unlimited and share links permanent, and lets a public site live on your own web address (connect a domain you own). Sites never pause or degrade, on any plan.
